When a first responder falls in the line of duty, communities often lower flags to half-staff as a sign of respect. So earlier this week when a firefighter lost his life battling a fire in the Bronx, members of Local 100 at the Kingsbridge Depot in New York lowered the facility’s massive flag to honor his service.
FDNY Battalion Chief Michael Fahy died in the line of duty on Tuesday, when a house exploded in the Bronx and he was hit by falling debris. New York Mayor Bill de Blasio ordered the flags lowered on all city buildings as a tribute, and Local 100 workers did just that.

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

In June of this year, the membership was advised that the TWU/IAM Associations had retained the services of Neutral Arbitrator Joshua Javits to create final integrated seniority lists. Shortly thereafter, Javits met with TWU/IAM negotiators and seniority committee members to receive their thoughts, input and guidance and then sent a communication to members requesting that they submit comments and information for his consideration during the fact-finding stage of the seniority integration process. Sisters and Brothers,

Both the Fleet Service and Mechanic and Related/Stores negotiating committees met this week in Washington, DC.  The week began with each committee meeting with company representatives to discuss outstanding articles and continue to exchange proposals.

The M&R/Stores committee exchanged proposals on Overtime and Rebids and have further narrowed our position for each article.  The company has yet to respond to our proposals regarding Vacations, Holidays and Limited Duty. Download this communication

Nearly 200 employees at Orlando International Airport now have the benefits of workplace protection, courtesy of TWU. In an overwhelming victory, ramp workers employed by Swissport voted for TWU representation on Sept. 9 and will become part of Local 525.
The workers approached TWU after years of struggling with low wages, long hours, and poor working conditions at the airport. They knew TWU’s proven track record of fighting for its members in the aviation industry and their confidence in their new union is reflected in the vote count.

Earlier today, another workgroup represented by the Transport Workers Union of America, AFL-CIO reached a tentative agreement with American Airlines. The flight simulator engineers are members of the Joint TWU-IAM Association, which represents over 30,000 workers at the country's largest airline.

Flight Attendants Union and Southwest Airlines Reach Tentative Labor Agreement

Transport Workers Union (TWU) of America, AFL-CIO Local 556 announced today that it has reached a tentative agreement in principle with Southwest Airlines.

TWU Local 556, which represents over 14,500 flight attendants, has been negotiating for over three years to reach this tentative successor collective bargaining agreement.

As negotiations with American Airlines continue, we know you’re eager for additional information about what’s happening at the bargaining table. Here’s the latest:

It’s been a few weeks since the interim agreement, and, despite the progress we made on those economic issues, it’s been a bit slow as we’ve returned to direct negotiations. The company has been helpful with resolving key issues with the agreement, but overall, we’re growing frustrated with the pace at which things are moving.
