Air Transport Division
TWU represents nearly 50,000 workers in America's airline industry. We represent workers in virtually all Classes and Crafts. America's airline industry is possibly the most volatile of all industries. Often times, a downturn in the airlines' economic fortunes is a forecaster of a national recession. TWU has had enough experience with these economic waves to know that good fortunes of today can quickly go in reverse tomorrow. Most veteran members, who have lived through to the rocky ride since the 1978 Airline Deregulation Act, know this fact. Yet others believe that the worst is behind us. The industry, however, is strewn with carriers who have not heeded the lessons of the late 70s and 80s. Obviously, our union cannot become complacent if we are to continue to protect our membership's hard won gains and secure their futures. Learn more...

Railroad Division
Turbulent times continue for TWU's Railroad Division and most rail unions despite strong profits in the freight railroad industry and increasing popularity of Amtrak for business and pleasure travel. The challenges came from several fronts, including a Congress more concerned about an elusive balanced budget than the future of the nation's only intercity passenger railroad; and greedy managements driven by ever higher profit margins rather than the good and welfare of those who earned the profit for them. Despite these serious problems, the Railroad Division's membership numbers have remained stable, and we have chalked up important victories. Learn more...

Transit, Utility, University and Services Division
There are far more similarities than differences among workers in various locals in this Division. We represent school bus drivers throughout the country as well as City Transit Drivers and Mechanics from New York to San Francisco. Along with the College Campus Workers at Columbia and Barnard and Utility Workers at KeySpan, we also represent Workers at the New York-New Jersey Port Authority and at municipalities in South Jersey and Pennsylvania.
