As our nation marks the 22nd anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks, the TWU pauses to remember those whose lives have been lost or forever altered by these horrific events—including many of our own members.
Today we honor our union members across all of our industries who, in the face of uncertainty and adversity, courageously risked their own health, safety, and security to serve others in our country’s greatest hour of need.
We mourn those we lost in the immediate aftermath of the attacks and those who suffered from and succumb to illnesses sustained while working at Ground Zero. We also recognize the thousands who continue to suffer and perish from Ground Zero-related illnesses.
Finally, we celebrate the enduring unbeatable human spirit that guided TWU members on that fateful day and continues to be a hallmark of this great union.
The TWU will always remember the attack on 9/11 and we will never forget our union brothers and sisters who made the ultimate sacrifice.
