TWU Local 577, representing 1,700 Flight Attendants working for Allegiant Airlines, announced a tentative agreement today on a five-year contract that would provide wage increases ranging from 20 to 41.2 percent for members on the date of ratification.
The tentative agreement is a product of negotiations that began in August of 2022 and would be Local 577’s second-ever contract if ratified. Flight Attendants would receive an average wage increase of 25 percent on the date of ratification, while flight attendants at the top of the wage scale would receive a 41.2 percent wage increase on the date of ratification. In addition to wage rate increases, the tentative agreement includes many wage enhancements such as improved premium pays.
“The tentative agreement reached after more than a year and a half of negotiations provides Allegiant Flight Attendants with essential raises and quality-of-life benefits that extend to members across the country,” said TWU International Executive Vice President Alex Garcia.
In addition to pay raises, the tentative agreement provides improvements to duty rig, or pay credits based on the amount of time a Flight Attendant spends on duty. The agreement contains an improved 401k match and health insurance benefits, along with other quality-of-life improvements. Flight Attendants would also receive yearly pay increases of three percent throughout the life of the contract and members would receive a combined $10 million lump sum bonus upon ratification, plus other negotiated benefits. Flight Attendants would receive a minimum $1,500 lump sum bonus upon ratification or at least a $1,013 bonus per year of service, whichever is greater. The average estimated lump sum bonus per Flight Attendant would be slightly over $6,000 upon ratification.
“Our Members were pivotal in the changes that were made by supporting the Negotiating Team while we sat across from the company at the negotiating table over the last 20 months. They were the driving force behind this hard-fought Tentative Agreement, which reflects the improved quality of life, benefits, and compensation that Allegiant Flight Attendants deserve.” said TWU Local 577 President Christa Gifford. “In just our second contract, this Tentative Agreement will put TWU 577 Members at the top of the wage scale for the ULCC’s, give us the second best ‘delay pay’ duty rig in the industry, and a substantial signing bonus, plus many other benefits.”
The current Allegiant contract became amendable in December of 2022. This is the second tentative agreement in the current round of contract negotiations. A tentative agreement reached in June of 2023 was voted down in July of 2023.
