Building on the success of the inaugural AFL-CIO Young Workers Summit last year, hundreds of young workers, activists and leaders will come together Sept. 29-Oct. 2 in Minneapolis for the Next Up Young Workers Summit. This Next Up gathering of young workers is part of the AFL-CIO’s long-term outreach to workers 35 and younger.
Check it out, and register by Sept. 1 to join other young people at the Next Up Young Workers Summit.
Young workers around the world are mobilizing for social and economic justice. In Minneapolis, the focus will be on how young workers can create change in an economy where the unemployment rate for 16- to 24-year-olds has soared to an all-time high, students are facing growing debt and conservatives have launched widespread attacks on workers’ rights, student voting rights and college aid.
For the past several months, a team of young workers has been busy putting together the agenda for the summit, and they’ve got some really exciting panels and workshops lined up.
If you’re a union member, talk to your steward or union leader and ask to be on the list to attend. Not a union member? You should be there, too.
Get a sneak peek at the agenda now—and register for the early-bird rate before the deadline of Sept. 1.
The Next Up Young Workers Summit is a great opportunity for upcoming leaders to gain new skills, make new contacts, create new strategies—and take part in a dynamic Un-conference—where they determine the agenda.
Young people are getting started in a perilous time—high unemployment, growing inequality, rampant attacks by extremist politicians on workplace rights, immigration rights and voting rights. You name the problem and they’re facing it.
Now’s the time to step up and take it on—with hundreds of others who are equally determined to make a difference in their communities, states and nations.
