TWU Welcomes Oriana (Ori) Korin
Published 01 May, 2015
Sisters and Brothers,
I am excited to share today the news that starting Monday, May 4, Oriana (Ori) Korin will be joining TWU, as the director of our communications department. Ori has a long history of fighting for workers’ rights, having previously served as the Press Secretary and Manager for External Affairs for Jobs with Justice, and as a Communications Associate for Change to Win. In addition, she has served as Director of Development for George Washington University’s School of Media and Public Affairs. Ori has planned, executed and managed media campaigns dealing with an array of worker’s issues, including raising the minimum wage, implementing a fair union election process, and bringing greater attention to rights for home-care workers.
Ori also brings a special proficiency in the field of social media. At Jobs with Justice, Ori helped organize their annual Labor Day Tweet-a-Thon, where union members across the country tweet why they are proud to be union members. She coordinated tweets from various members of sports associations, including the MLB, NFL and NHL, and the Screen Actors’ Guild. Ori has years of experience working with national print media including the Wall Street Journal, Huffington Post, Bloomberg, Politico, USA Today and the New York Post. She also has vast experience on national and congressional political campaigns. She will make a great addition to the team here at the International.
We also today wish farewell to Samantha Saly. We thank her for her hard work and dedication and wish her nothing but the best in her future endeavors.
I hope you will join me in warmly welcoming Ori as we continue to move TWU forward. Communications, both internal and external, is going to play a critical role in TWU creating an outsized punch that will make us a force to be reckoned with. We will be pressing ahead in a manner that will keep our members better informed, create more engagement, and build TWU’s local and national media profile, all to the ultimate goal of providing for our members.
In Solidarity,
Harry Lombardo, International President
