On Monday, February 24, TWU Executive Vice President Alex Garcia and Air Division Director Mike Mayes swore in members of Local 513’s Executive Board in Texas.
“I think it’s a privilege to be part of something that can seem so routine, but actually is a crucial part of our union’s future,” Garcia said. “I congratulate Local 513’s new Executive Board and wish them the best of luck. The International will be here to support any way we can.”
New President Greg Cosey said the first item on his agenda is settling the American Airlines contract.
“It’s a huge honor to represent members in this capacity and I am completely excited and looking forward to the next three years,” he said. “From a local standpoint, we have some things we have to work on: We need to be more visible to members and responsive to their needs, that’s one of the biggest challenges.”
Treasurer Darrel Kizer said he was looking forward to his fourth term.
“It’s always a great honor to be part of a great organization I believe in. It’s humbling,” he said. “Members simply being who they are makes this job great. We go through our ups and downs, but we are a family and we always go through it together.”
