Following the announcement from several airlines that previously banned passengers could be allowed to travel by air again, TWU International President John Samuelsen has released the following statement:
“For airlines to allow previously banned, unruly passengers back on their planes without a clear vetting process is irresponsible when they haven’t consulted with the union, our essential workers, or even outlined a plan of how they will protect them. Airlines are accountable for ensuring both their workers and customers can travel safely, and that is why the TWU is calling for the passage of the Protection from Abusive Passengers Act, which will protect airline crew members, security screening personnel, airport customer service agents and airline customers by banning abusive passengers from all commercial flights until proper, thorough investigations could be conducted by the TSA for security purposes.”
