May 31 marks International Flight Attendant Day. The TWU recognizes this day by honoring the extraordinary work our Flight Attendants have been performing, not only in the face of a pandemic but also during a full-moon atmosphere of violence and chaos in the cabin.
The past few years have not been easy. You are responsible for the safety, security and comfort of passengers 30,000 feet above ground, while also being subjected to danger and health hazards, including violent and unruly passengers, toxic fume events and other harassment. On top of this, you’re also juggling hectic work schedules and dealing with a rash of severely delayed flights – all too often while feeling severely fatigued.
Being a Flight Attendant is not the glamorous job it was once perceived as. Your dedication and patience have kept this country moving during the pandemic.
The TWU thanks you for putting your health and safety on the line in order to keep our country flying and continues to fight to protect you through improved legislation.
