The Transport Workers Union of America, AFL-CIO honors all veterans, and thanks them for their service to our country. We recognize your incredible sacrifice and commitment, and we celebrate everything you’ve done to protect America.
TWU is proud to count among our ranks thousands of veterans from all branches of the United States military. These men and women exemplify the courage, commitment and leadership skills that define the American spirit, and they bring that resolve with them to work every single day.
As union brothers and sisters, our TWU veterans have continued to dedicate their energy to protecting Americans through activism in the labor movement. Many of our union’s elected officers, representatives, and active rank and file members are military veterans. Through TWU Veteran’s Committee, we are working to harness those resources and translate them into community activism, legislative and political power on behalf of all veterans, including those struggling to find jobs and reenter the workforce.
Our veterans continue to face too many challenges when they come home, and I believe that it’s a critical part of our mission in organized labor to help our military brothers and sisters return to a life of dignity and respect on the job. I will continue to make it a priority for this union to stand up for veteran’s issues, including increased mental health benefits, enhanced disability compliance, improved access to job training and expanded family and caregiver support efforts.
TWU International leadership and the officers of the TWU Veterans Committee (TWUVC) thank all veterans for their sacrifice and many contributions to our nation and our union.
