TWU-Represented Aircraft Dispatchers Ratify Agreement with Frontier Airlines
The Transport Workers Union of America (TWU) is pleased to announce that another of its Air Division work groups has voted to ratify a new contract. The agreement with Denver-based Frontier Airlines goes into effect immediately and comes just before the holiday travel season swings into high gear.
The Frontier Airlines aircraft dispatchers voted overwhelmingly yesterday to ratify the new contract, which will provide substantial wage increases over the life of the five-year deal. This ends a long and challenging period of negotiations between the union and the airline. The last three years were spent in mediation and last month, TWU requested the National Mediation Board proffer binding arbitration on the outstanding issues, which had that failed, the union would have been able to strike.
“We are pleased to be able to provide a secure future for our hard-working members at Frontier,” said TWU International Vice President Gary Shults, in announcing the outcome of the vote. “Local 540 may be a small local, but with the full support of the TWU International leadership, they were able to get the job done.”
The dispatchers at Frontier Airlines are FAA-certified and work in the System Operations Control center in Denver, CO.
