The Association Executive Negotiating Committee met with American Airlines on July 24 in Washington, D.C. to continue discussion about comprehensive Scope proposals. The company again peddled out the “same old, same old” retrogressive Scope proposals presented to us earlier only using different words.
During this session, it became very obvious to your committee that the company isn’t hearing your displeasure about their previous Scope proposals. Their strategy continues to consist of scheduling negotiating sessions, presenting us with inadequate Scope proposals and hoping for a different outcome.
They assume that by waiting us out our Association will eventually crack and accept their insulting proposals. If we were to agree to that, it would essentially leave our members back in the days of bankruptcy. No matter what you hear, without protecting our work, nothing else matters.
The company can continue to allege that they would like to come to a quick and equitable resolution to these negotiations, but this is simply not what is going on during our talks.
Now, more than ever, our members need to let the company know that our Association will continue to remain united and forceful!
Fraternally,
Your Association Executive Negotiating Committee
