Brothers and Sisters,
The Executive Negotiating Committee met with American Airlines on June 25, 26, & 27 in Washington, DC. The vast majority of these negotiating sessions were spent discussing Scope in a very detailed manner; mainly for the Maintenance and Related group. While Fleet Service Scope was discussed, it was done on a much broader level since a member of the company’s negotiating team was unavailable; the company was not prepared to have a more detailed negotiation take place without him. The key takeaway from this week’s negotiating session was for the company to consider Scope language that was more aligned with the Association’s philosophy.
We anticipate that more dates will be scheduled soon, while Scope is fresh in both parties’ minds. The objective remains to achieve the best contracts in the industry for our members and the company is keenly aware, after this week’s negotiating session, on how to move in the right direction to achieve the Agreement they have been promising our members. We understand the memberships frustration, with the time it is taking to reach this JCBA but we cannot negotiate a concessionary agreement, just to complete the process.
Over this July 4th week, all Association members are to remain unified and recognize that we are fighting for the CBA you have earned and deserve.
Fraternally,
Your Association Executive Negotiating Committee
