Transport Workers Union of America (TWU) Local 527 has spent decades representing service contract workers on federal installations. Our members in locations like Fort Gregg Adams (VA) and Fort Gordon (GA) have worked under TWU-negotiated Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) that include excellent wages, grievance protections and health benefits all protected under federal law even when Logistics Readiness Center employer contracts change hands because of a recompete award bid. Once a union CBA is signed and ratified by a majority of the workers, those terms are locked in. And, should the employer change, the new employer must abide by the economic terms and conditions of the CBA for a determined period. Without a union in place, a new employer is free to change all rules and policies in the workplace and is only obligated to pay whatever the prevailing wage is at that time.
