From Transit Division Director Curtis Tate:
As we enter this holiday season, we have much to be grateful for. The good feelings that come from being grateful can help us connect with both our members and the communities we serve by uplifting each other and renewing the faith that we are not alone in our daily struggles.
From appreciating what we have, to understanding that hard times won’t last forever – remembering that there is someone out there in a far worse predicament than you are and are in need of our help.
So, in the spirit of this holiday season, on behalf of the entire Transit, Universities, Utilities and Services Division (TUUS) Staff, we would like you to take the 2018 An Act of Holiday Kindness Challenge.
Here’s how it works: Each and every local will select a service to take part in. Some ideas include:
- Clothing Drives
- Coat Drives
- Shoe Drives
- Food Drives
- Toy Drives
- A Day of Service
- Place a donation box in your depots, facilities, offices, etc
- Volunteer at a mission, shelter, food kitchen or house of worship
I am sure many of our locals already participate in these acts of service, however this year, WE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT IT! Please make sure you let your local rep know what activity/activities your local is participating in. Send a picture or two so you and your members can be featured in the post-holiday issue of the TWU Express.
This is not a competition or challenge among locals. The challenge is to step up and perform an act of giving. No local is too big or small. No act is too big or small. That’s the challenge!
We would like to see every local participate in this 2018 Holiday Challenge. Are you up for it?
