The TWU Proudly Supports Julie Su for Secretary of Labor
Washington, DC—Ahead of her Senate confirmation hearing today, John Samuelsen, International President of the Transport Workers Union of America (TWU) issues this statement in support of Julie Su for Secretary of Labor:
“Working people deserve leaders in Washington who recognize our struggles, understand our efforts, and aren’t afraid to stand with us as we fight against unchecked corporate greed. Deputy Secretary of Labor Julie Su has proven time and again she is that leader, and she remains the most qualified candidate to serve as America’s next Secretary of Labor.
“Su has made it her life’s work to advocate on behalf of working people, and to give a voice to those who have been silenced by corporate behemoths. Whether it was early in her career when she was fighting for immigrants and other vulnerable workers, combatting wage theft and the abuse of low-wage workers in California, or leading the Department of Labor alongside then-Secretary Marty Walsh, Su has distinguished herself as a principled fighter for workers, no matter where we’re form or what kind of work we do.
“The TWU is proud to endorse Julie Su for Secretary of Labor and urges swift confirmation by the Senate.”
