A Letter from TWU Local 100
Now that the dust has cleared a bit on Local 100’s big victory to get the City of New York and Mayor Bill de Blasio to commit to paying its fair share to fully fund the MTA Capital Plan, a special thank you is in order for our TWU International President Harry Lombardo.
We reached out to Harry before embarking on this campaign to take on the city’s power brokers. As a former ‘big city’ Local President in Philadelphia, Harry understands the vital necessity of capital money in maintaining the state of good repair, and as importantly, the role of a well-funded Capital Plan in providing a steady stream of work and overtime for thousands of transit workers.
Harry didn’t hesitate for a moment. He offered the full resources of our International Union to help push us across the finish line. His name and the International’s logo stand right along side Local 100’s in the New York Daily News and other media outlets. This solidarity demonstrated that Local 100 has the backing of the TWU of America and every TWU Local in the New York region and across the country.
The membership and leadership of Local 100 share this victory on MTA Capital Funding with President Lombardo and the rest of the TWU International.
