“Never Stop Believing that Fighting for What’s Right is Worth It”;
Transport Workers Union of America Looks Ahead Following Election Results
Transport Workers Union of America International President Harry Lombardo issued the following statement on the 2016 election:
“Brothers and sisters, we have reached the end of a long and hard-fought campaign. I want to thank every single member of this organization who volunteered their time, sacrificed their energy, and offered their enthusiasm to getting out the vote for a cause you believed in. Your work did not go unnoticed. Together, we made the voices of working people heard, and that is a victory, regardless of the election’s outcome.
“Today, the real work begins. We must remain united in our fight to hold the new administration and Congress accountable to the issues that truly matter: protecting organizing and collecting bargaining rights. Investing in Amtrak and public transit. Fixing corporate bankruptcy laws to safeguard worker pensions. And rebuilding an economy that works for all of us, not just wealthy CEOs.
“We’re no strangers to big fights in this movement, and we never back down.”
